🏌️‍♂️Getting Started

In this section, we will guide you through the process of getting started with Safe Harbour, including setting up a wallet, connecting to the Polygon network, and acquiring USDC and ETH tokens. Follow these steps to ensure a seamless experience as you explore and participate in projects on the Safe Harbour platform.

Setting up a wallet To interact with Safe Harbour, you'll need a compatible cryptocurrency wallet. MetaMask is a popular choice and can be easily installed as a browser extension:

a. Visit the MetaMask website (https://metamask.io/) and follow the instructions to install the browser extension for your preferred browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Brave).

b. Once installed, click on the MetaMask icon in your browser toolbar to open the extension. Create a new MetaMask wallet, or import an existing one by following the in-app instructions.

c. Make sure to safely store your wallet's seed phrase in a secure location, such as a password manager or a physical, locked storage. This 12-word phrase is required to recover your wallet if needed, and losing it may result in the permanent loss of your assets.

Connecting to the a Ethereum L2 network

To use Safe Harbour, you'll need to connect your wallet to the desired Ethereum L2 network:

a. Open the MetaMask extension in your browser and click on the network selection dropdown located at the top of the extension window (it may show "Ethereum Mainnet" by default).

b. Example for Arbitrum (same with the other ETH L2s)

For integrating Arbitrum Mainnet with your MetaMask wallet, here are the necessary RPC settings. To guarantee accuracy and the latest information, refer to the official Arbitrum documentation or ChainList, a reliable resource.

  • Network Name: Arbitrum One

  • Network URL: https://arb1.arbitrum.io/rpc

  • Chain ID: 42161

  • Currency Symbol: ETH

  • Block Explorer URL: https://arbiscan.io

For a successful and secure setup of Arbitrum Mainnet in MetaMask, cross-check these details with various reputable sources.

Acquiring USDC and ETH tokens

To participate in campaigns and cover transaction fees on Safe Harbour, you'll need to acquire USDC and ETH tokens:

a. Purchase USDC and ETH tokens from a cryptocurrency exchange, such as Coinbase (https://www.coinbase.com/) or Binance (https://www.binance.com/). If you are new to cryptocurrency exchanges, you may need to create an account and complete a KYC (Know Your Customer) process before trading.

b. Transfer the purchased tokens to your MetaMask wallet using the provided wallet address. Make sure to select the right network, when sending the tokens.

c. Once the transfer is complete, check your MetaMask wallet balance to ensure that the transferred tokens are visible. You may need to add the USDC as custom tokens within MetaMask if it does not appear automatically.

Congratulations! You are now ready to explore and participate in projects on Safe Harbour without needing to create an account. In the following sections, we will cover how to create and support campaigns, engage with the community, and utilize NFTs and blockchain technology to make the most of your experience on our platform.
